Japanese stab binding is a most satisfying way of binding single sheets of paper together, characterised by an exposed spine with stitch patterns that range from simple to intricate and down right mind boggling! In this day long workshop I will share two of my favourite Japanese stab stitches.

As an introduction to this style of binding, we will first create a set of simple notebooks featuring a Japanese stab zig zag stitch. Before moving on to a more substancal hardcover hinged book incorporating remnant fabric into the cover, bound with an intricate ‘hemp leaf stitch’. The book you create in class will roughly measure 26.5 x 10.5cm but I will share how to scale up and down should you wish to experiment with size and scale in your own time.

Following the workshop you will receive access to comprehensive follow up video instructions and a helpful kit list so you can continue your making at home with a reminder of the process.

Tea/coffee & sweet treats to fuel your crafting are included!

> Early Bird price of £90 available until 31 July, £100 thereafter.

Accessibility: the workshop space is on the ground floor with accessible toilet in the adjacent building. If you have access requirements, please get in touch asap so I can support where needed.

Booking/cancellation policy: I need a minimum of 4 people to cover costs and go a-head with this workshop, you will be given advanced warning is the class needs to be cancelled and offered the option to transfer your place to a future workshop or receive a refund. Once you have booked a place,  if you are no longer able attend you will be given the option to transfer to a future class but a refund will not be possible.
