Date/Time: Saturday 19 April, 10.30-1pm
Location: Mote102, Ferry Road, Leith, Ediburgh, EH6 4 PG
Join Lorna and Cass for a creative afternoon exploring the beautiful shapes, textures and patterns of nettles.
Working with foraged plants from the local neighbourhood we’ll extract the most delicate details and silhouettes using gelli plate printmaking processes. Working on a range of upcycled papers with water based inks you’ll build up gorgeous rich patinas of colour/pattern/texture, creating a small range of artworks.
Cass will then guide you in making a simple Japanese stab book incorporating your prints, dried nettle stalks and nettle dyed thread. This makes for a great little note book or portable leaf press you can use when out in nature.
All materials included, no experience required.
This event is part of the ‘Time with Nettles’ exhibition at Mote102, featuring artwork by Cass Barron and Lorna Brown, open from 18-26 April.
Please note: this workshop is aimed at adults. Tickets are non-refundable. You will receive a reminder email in the run up to the event with more details, if you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch.
> Places limited to 10 participants.
