Location: The Heart of Newhaven, Edinburgh
Date/time: Monday 7 October, 10am – 4.30pm
This collaborative project with resident Bookbinder Cass Barron and Printmaker Lorna Brown invites you for a day of learning and creating inspired by the Restoration Forth project and Natasha Russell’s new mural at The Heart of Newhaven.
The mural (currently being painted) has been designed by Natasha with input from the local community – part of the Restoration Forth initiative which is working to reintroduce European oysters and seagrass beds in the Firth of Forth.
Cass and Lorna have created a dynamic session that includes screen printing, collage, heat press printing and bookbinding to explore themes of biodiversity and restoration – an opportunity to learn a range of making techniques and work with imagery and text from the Restoration Forth project to create a series of prints, a collaborative artwork and a concertina oyster book.
Work produced in this workshop will go on to be part of a group exhibition at The Heart of Newhaven, a chance to engage more people in the Restoration Forth project and share the creativity. Your work will be returned to you after the exhibition (end of 2024).
We look forward to welcoming you for a day of mindful making and creating!
