Location: The Heart of Newhaven, Edinburgh
Date/time: 2 part workshop | 6-9pm, 9 April & 6-9pm, 23 April
In this two part workshop you will learn the basics of upcycled papermaking then return the following week to make a collection of Japanese stab bound books that incorporate your handmade papers.
The first session invites you to be playful and experimental, using botanicals, words (from damaged books) and a mix of remnant papers to create textured papers. I will share my method for papermaking using low-fi tools so you can replicate the techniques covered at home to create unique papers that can be used for all sorts of crafts.
In the second session (once your papers have had time to dry and be pressed) I will share a series of Japanese stab binding techniques featuring some eye-catching stitches and lot’s of ideas on how to incorporate your papers.
You’ll leave the workshop with a mix of handmade papers and a collection of hand stitched books, plus the skills to make more at home!
Useful links and video instructions will be provided after the workshop.
