In this 2-part workshop I share my take on Secret Belgian Binding – a sewn together hardback book structure that features a distinct stitch pattern on the cover and spine, to which signatures are attached using a secondary stitch method.
My take on this binding, invented in the mid 1980’s, includes the addition of an optional decorative stitch on the front and back cover and pocket inserts on the inside. In class we will make an A6 portrait style book but I will share instructions on how to measure all your materials according to the size of pages you want to include, should you want to make different sized books at home.
A nifty book that takes a bit of getting your head round but is a satisfying make!
Video instructions will be provided after the workshop.
Tea, coffee and sweet treats included.
Accessibility: the workshop space is on the ground floor with accessible toilet in the adjacent building. If you have access requirements, please get in touch asap so I can support where needed.
