Location: The Cook Book Shop, 19A Haddington Pl, Leith Walk, Edinburgh EH7 4AF
Date/time: 7.30-9.30pm | Tuesday 5 September, 22 September, 29 September & 6 October
Join local bookbinders Susie Wilson and Cass Barron to create a hand-bound recipe journal in this four part workshop series, held in amongst the bookshelves at the The Cook Book Shop.
This is a great opportunity to learn a range of bookbinding skills in the company of other cook book lovers and create something really substantial that can be used and admired for years to come.
There will be lots of materials to work with at the sessions, including copies of vintage recipes from magazines and cookbooks, plus a selection of hand printed decorative papers made by Susie and I. There will also be the opportunity for you to work in photocopies from your own family recipe journal/s if you would like, advice on how to do this will be shared at the first session.
Each week will cover a different part of the book making process, from creating the pages and pockets, to making the cover, stitching the inserts and adding finishing touches. At the last session there will also be the opportunity to share recipes with other participants and get some gentle encouragement to start using your journal.
