Date/time: 10am-12.30pm or 1.30-4pm, Monday 13 October

This half day workshop, organised by Friends of Victoria Park, invites you to get to know the wide variety of trees at Victoria Park and take inspiration from them to create your own hand-bound nature journal.

The workshop will begin with a guided tour of the Victoria Park Tree Trail, with the opportunity to forage leaves, and will end up at The Heart of Newhaven where Cass Barron, Bookbinder in Residence, will lead a creative session.

Cass will introduce a range of leaf printing techniques and guide you in making a collection of decorative papers, then you will have the opportunity to bind a selection of your prints into a nifty nature book incorporating a twig into the stitched spine.

This workshop is a great opportunity to get creative and be inspired by nature, you’ll leave the workshop with a finished book that can be used as a sketchbook, nature journal and/or tree identification guide, an appreciation of the trees on your doorstep and the know-how to continue making at home.

>This workshop is for adults and children aged 8+, children must be accompanied by an adult who will also be expected to participate in the workshop, so if booking a ticket for your child, please book a ticket for yourself too. Adults without a child are also welcome!

Following the workshop you will receive access to comprehensive follow up video instructions and a helpful kit list so you can continue your making at home with a reminder of the process.

Meeting point: Please meet at the Craighall Road entrance closest to Trinity Academy. The creative part of the workshop will take place in the Anchor Building at The Heart of Newhaven

This is a funded event: organised by The Friends of Victoria Park, with thanks to Edinburgh Council’s Community Grants Fund and a kind donation from The Bridge Awards.
