My take on the ancient art of Coptic binding, this online workshop shares how to create a hardback book with plaited exposed binding.
In my video tutorials I’ll show you how to incorporate remnant paper into the cover and inside pages, use two colours of thread for the binding, add a decorative cover stitch and finish with an elastic fastening. A fiddly stitch but oh so satisfying to master, with lots of opportunity to theme and personalise according to your taste.
In my videos I make an A6 size landscape book – I invite you to do the same initially but also provide guidance on how to scale up and down.

This online workshop is taught via a series of step-by-step video tutorials, accompanied by a downloadable document with links to recommended suppliers and advice on sourcing & prepping materials.
You will have continued access to my video tutorials via a password protected page on my website, which means you can revisit my videos for a reminder of the process whenever you need – I only ask that you please don’t share log in details with friends or third parties, doing so will result in you losing access.
