Try your hand at a number of Japanese Stab stitches in this bitesize workshop – a decorative and durable way of stitching single sheets of paper together.

I will share straight stitch and zig zag stitch variations, taking you through the process from start to finish, right from creating a hole punch template to mastering the stitching and decorating your cover using remnant paper.

This is a great way to make note books and can also be an effective way of binding together artwork, writing or poetry to create a unique keepsake or Artists’ Book.

You will leave the workshop with a number of books, ranging from A6 – A5 and a collection of remnant and vintage papers to continue decorating your covers at home.

I will share tips and advice for working with low-cost remnant and recycled materials including recommendations on where to source materials. Bookbinding toolkits will also be available to buy at the end of the workshop.

All materials are provided as well as comprehensive follow up videos to remind you of the process should you wish to make more books at home.
